Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
- 5 years of related experience
- Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word as well as intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other CAD-based civil design software
- Experience with GIS-based software
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability and willingness to conduct fieldwork independently or with a team, either locally or out of town, when needed
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain certification within one year
Responsibilities
- Work with project teams on civil engineering and related technical assignments
- Perform and lead tasks related to civil design
- Assist engineers and clients with the development of wind and solar projects
- Prepare construction documents, site evaluations, feasibility studies, road design, grading, stormwater design
- Prepare technical reports
- Complete other tasks as needed
- Assist with project management
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with preparation of plans and specifications, analyzing alternatives, and developing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
- Construction administration experience such as review and response to payment applications, submittals, and claims and interpreting plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Experience drafting PowerPoint presentations, memos, and report text and figures
- 7 or more years of related work experience
