Requirements

  • MD or DO degree with Board Certification in a recognized medical specialty
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Proven track record of effective leadership and management in a healthcare setting
  • Strong commitment to patient care and medical ethics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for directing and coordinating medical staff and hospital functions as a consensus builder between medical staff and administration.
  • Continuously monitors outcome measures and develops action plans when necessary to correct gaps.
  • Partners with Quality and Clinical teams to ensure high-value care is delivered to patients minimizing unnecessary expenditures and maximizing quality.
  • Implements changes to support the desired culture that engages clinicians and connects purpose and meaning to their daily work.
  • Actively participates in Integrated Care Management discussions when necessary to facilitate the care of patients.
  • Available to nurses and physicians in the hospital for clinical discussions as the need arises.
  • Partners with physicians, APPs and other hospital administration to support strategic plans and endeavors.
  • Partners with the VP of Academic Affairs to support Graduate Medical Education at AMC, CME, and quality programs for the residencies. Ensures alignment of academic programs with quality initiatives and compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Meets regularly with the President of the Medical Staff and attends Department meetings.
  • Actively supports physician participation and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supports physician engagement through outreach as well as performance improvement activities through MSQC and FPPE when necessary.
  • Participates in the management of complaints and grievances; facilitates needs, especially consumer relations and responses to regulatory agencies including, Joint Commission or Ohio Department of Health for any external complaints.
  • Facilitates communication among and between the member of the clinical team and patients including family members when necessary.
  • Manages assigned medical director contracts and establish yearly quality metrics to help drive desired results.
  • Participates in hospital and system committees as requested by the Premier Health CMO or AMC President.
  • Provides insights and best practice consultation to clinical leadership as it relates to the service aspects of the patient experience.
  • Creates and maintains a balanced budget for medical staff expenses including physician lounge areas.
