Requirements
- Located in New York City
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership, including experience as a CFO or senior finance executive at a growth-stage company.
- Proven track record of owning budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting in complex organizations.
- Experience with fundraising and investor relations, ideally in a venture-backed environment.
- Deep financial modeling skills and comfort with tools like Excel, SQL, and business intelligence platforms.
- Executive communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging external and senior stakeholders.
- Experience with inventory and COGS management for physical and/or digital products.
- CPA, MBA, or other relevant advanced degrees/certifications strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with healthcare, medtech, biotech, or regulated industries is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Act as a core member of the executive leadership team, contributing to overall strategy and decision-making.
- Own overall financial health and financial KPIs including margin improvement, cash burn and revenue sustainability.
- Drive long-term financial planning including capital allocation strategy and scenario modeling.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Board, and investors providing insights on financial performance, risk and opportunity.
- Prepare financial reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Ensure accuracy and compliance in official reports.
- Maintain our financial models and forecasts to inform larger sales and business goals. Take an iterative approach that takes into account our evolving business.
- Manage and improve internal financial processes to ensure scalable operations within finance and across teams.
- Lead fundraising strategy and execution in partnership with the CEO. Set Ash up for a successful Series B or alternate path.
- Prepare, deliver and maintain investor updates, board materials and diligence documentation.
- Act as the primary finance contact for investors, bankers and other external advisors.
- Partner with Sales to inform and vet pricing strategy, sales comp plans and provide accurate revenue projections to the larger team.
- Collaborate with Operations to optimize gross margin and improve unit economics, including COGS tracking and cost-efficiency analyses.
- Build dashboards, tools and data systems that empower decision-making across the organization. Act as an internal knowledge source on all things finance.
- Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory and audit requirements.
- Establish risk management frameworks across financial, legal, and operational areas.
- If needed, lead or support external audits. Develop internal controls appropriate for a Series A company.
- Liaise with external parties such as suppliers, partners or clients to maintain accurate reports and where appropriate, negotiate on behalf of Ash.
