Requirements
- Graduate of a Technical College, or equivalent, with accredited Surgical Technologist curricula
- Surgical Technologist Certification required after 2008
- Basic Life Support (BLS) with the American Heart Association (AHA) required
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Certified Surgical Technician for procedures involving newborns, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Support the surgical team in a variety of capacities under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Cross-training in other surgical department areas as needed (e.g., OR housekeeping, Central Sterile Processing, and patient transport when requested by charge personnel)
