Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Master’s degree in Nurse Midwifery required
- Current RN license to work in Maryland
- Current Certification as a Nurse Midwife from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) or any other certifying body recognized by the Maryland Board of Nursing
- Two to three years of experience nursing in department specific areas
- Certification for Electronic Fetal Monitoring within 3 months of employment
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Responsibilities
- Provides direct antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and gynecologic patient services
- Applies surgical skills and knowledge required to act as first assist in the Operating Room
- Collaborates with physicians, support staff, and ancillary departments to provide quality patient care
- Performs History and physical examination in a timely manner
- Maintains role/specialty competencies as well as keeping current with changes in practice, i.e., new equipment, medications, treatment modalities
- Actively participates in departmental peer review, staff meetings, in-service education and quality improvement processes.
