Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent for CMA
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred for CMA
- Basic computer skills required for CMA
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for CMA
- Certification through AMT, AAMA, NHA, or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or NAHP for CMA
- Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program for LPN
- Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state for LPN
- One year of LPN experience preferred for LPN
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for LPN
Responsibilities
- Perform multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care for CMA
- Assist and support patients and families to optimally manage their health care for CMA
- Rooming patients, taking vitals and health history, documenting in an electronic medical record, giving injections, and assisting with minor procedures for LPN
- Participate in recording and reporting responsibilities; document findings relevant to patients’ health care status or plan of care for both CMA and LPN
- Assist medical staff with preparation, examination, and procedure including interviewing/screening patients for both CMA and LPN
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of patient care experience preferred for CMA
- One year of LPN experience preferred for LPN
