Requirements

  • Bachelors in Scientific technical field (i.e. Radiation Therapy Technology, Physics, Math) Required or graduation from a school of Medical Dosimetry (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) or Board eligible by MDCB (certification must be completed within one year of eligibility)
  • BLS Provider Certification from either American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • If a Bachelor’s degree: One (1) year of health care experience required
  • If an Associate’s degree: Must be a registered radiation therapist and have four (4) years of experience in medical dosimetry working under the supervision of a Certified Medical Dosimetrist or medical physicist.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with physician and physicist to design radiation treatment plans
  • Calculates radiation dosages according to physician approved prescription
  • Performs QA as stated in approved department policies
  • Obtains CT/MRI and other diagnostic images to be used in treatment planning
  • Coordinates patient care with simulation, treatment, and nursing
  • Assists with brachytherapy procedures as needed
  • Assists with patient treatments as needed.
