Requirements

  • Master’s or Juris Doctor degree from an accredited university/college

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual career counseling to students and alumni
  • Review students’ and alumni’s resumes and cover letters and provide feedback
  • Review resumes for externship, internship, and post-graduate employment applications
  • Counsel students and alumni on job search strategies
  • Field student/alum inquiries regarding careers in the private and public sector, particularly related to post-graduate judicial clerkship positions in Nevada’s state trial courts
  • Manage and coordinate judicial placements for JD students and alumni
  • Provide outreach to members of the judiciary and staff to gauge needs and ensure appropriate placements
  • Conduct mock interviews and counsel JD students and alumni in applying for judicial positions
  • Work with the law school externship director to develop judicial internship and externship opportunities
  • Assist with securing and advertising judicial internships, externships, and clerkship opportunities
  • Develop and conduct workshops for students
  • Coordinate CDO programs in conjunction with staff
  • Establish and maintain a network of private and public employees to assist students and alumni in job search strategies
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of employment data from graduates and report to NALP, ABA, and US News
  • Maintain contact with recent graduates to assist them with post-graduate job searches and collect up-to-date contact and employment information
  • Collaborate with the BSL registrar’s office on data collection
  • Assist with the preparation of statistical and other reports for internal and external constituencies
  • Frequently update internal files with alumni’s contact information
  • Keep current on job trends and avenues of enhancing job search techniques
  • Perform miscellaneous and other duties related to the position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree
  • Judicial clerkship experience
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in law school administration and/or law school career advising
  • Experience working with 12Twenty or a similar law school career services employment program
  • Prior experience in law school administration and/or law school career advising is preferred but not required
