Requirements
- New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (R.T.) required
- Graduate of Cardiorespiratory Science Program Required
- Certified Basic Life Support (BLS), required
- Two years of cardiac catheterization experience or interventional neurology, or interventional radiology required
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of duties to prepare unit for cardiovascular procedures
- Prepares sterile field for invasive procedures
- Ensures all instrumentation/equipment for each procedure is presented on the table in the established fashion
- Prepares patient for invasive procedures
- Enters patient, procedure and equipment into computer system
- Ensures patients are correctly prepped and draped in a sterile fashion
- Responds to patient’s questions alleviating concerns regarding procedure
- Performs various duties during procedure
- Monitors patient hemodynamic status during procedure, including electrocardiogram, Blood pressure, chest pain
- Collects all pertinent data and all necessary calculations for physician’s interpretation of results
- Balances, calibrates and records appropriate hemodynamic data
- Intervenes in cardiopulmonary emergencies
- Operates equipment properly in a reliable manner, per departmental standards, complying with all safety guidelines/policies
- Retrieves and provides Physician’s equipment required for procedure using aseptic technique and ensuring maintenance of the sterile field
- Performs related duties, as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), preferred
- Knowledge of EKG rhythm interpretation and hemodynamic pressure, preferred
- Ability to travel to Peconic Bay Medical Center within 30 mins, highly preferred
