Responsibilities

  • Manage the inbound pickup operation using the Walmart Transportation Management System (WTMS) for loads going to the DCs or to consolidation centres by monitoring the assignment of the appropriate carriers and working with the respective stakeholders, as well as the daily communication using a custom Salesforce interface
  • Manage an inbound budgetary spend of $51.7M, while continuously investigating ways of reducing operational costs to achieve $1.5M in LCOM savings. Must clearly communicate results / reasoning with facts to Leadership on actualities versus budget on a regular basis, as well as perform any deep-dive / root cause exercises to resolve opportunities / drive financial /operational improvement
  • Mentor, lead, and develop a team of 10 direct reports on a daily basis. Must be able to lead training sessions, as well as provide constructive feedback to ensure a high-performance culture is adhered to. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates through mentoring and assigning duties. Builds a team-based work environment establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance reviews. Provides recognition and rewards and coaching for success and improvement
  • Clearly communicate with transportation personnel and internal / external stakeholders to problem solve with suppliers, Replenishment, and carriers by strategically managing the inbound operation in a timely fashion at a reasonable cost. Engage and negotiate with Replenishment or other key stakeholders as needed to ensure on time metrics are achieved
  • Manage and review transportation planning opportunities to reduce transportation costs, as well as follow up with carriers and DC operations on inbound performance. Communicates with suppliers, Replenishment, DCs and carriers for day-to-day inquiries as well as tracking and tracing orders by maintaining all daily reporting procedures
  • Integrate and apply a wide range of facts and information to consider different courses of action, set appropriate priorities, and make optimal decisions, even in uncertain or complex situations, is required on a weekly basis with regards to inbound and delivery network operations
  • Manage resistance and address operational questions related to the execution of inbound and delivery transportation while building and maintaining an environment that creates an immediate and compelling sense of urgency in others, and enables them to achieve levels of performance and results that exceed expectations
  • Create and maintain an environment where others are fully engaged in and support business priorities, change initiatives, and organizational information through clear, compelling, and effective two-way communication
