Requirements
- Applicants must be (or qualify as) a lateral police officer in Washington State.
- Applicants must be currently certified police officers.
- Meet the requirements in the position description.
- Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM7.10 and departmental driving standards.
- High school graduation or equivalent; twenty-one years of age; possession of a valid driver’s license; no previous felony convictions; U.S Citizenship; AND two years of full-time college; OR one year of police experience.
- Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
- As a condition of employment, the successful applicant must pass a physical agility test, criminal background check, polygraph test, psychological test, medical screening and general aptitude test.
- Incumbents are required to obtain certification or complete a basic law enforcement course as approved by the Washington Law Enforcement Officer’s Training Commission.
- Incumbents have arrest powers and are required to be commissioned law officers under the regulations of the State.
- The position requires occasional work hours during the evenings and weekends.
- Required to carry a cell phone and be available on-call after working hours. Some overnight travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Perform general duty police work to protect life and property, enforce laws and ordinances, maintain order, and prevent and investigate crime on campus.

- Other duties as assigned (5%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of full-time employment as a commissioned police officer.
- Graduate of Criminal Justice Academy (BLEA) or agency with reciprocal agreement.
- Experience in Property and Evidence Management and Emergency Management.
- Experience working in an educational environment.
- Bachelors or Associate degree in related field of study.
- Two years of progressively responsible relevant experience.
- Completion of an advanced police management training program.
