Requirements
- Typically requires 5-7 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Advanced knowledge of BD functions, preferably within an enterprise software or life sciences company.
- Practical experience in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects, and tactics across multiple departments.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, science, or a related discipline. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Solid understanding of the Business Development Representative role, preferably in enterprise software sales or life sciences-related roles, with experience or understanding of the pharmaceutical and MedTech industries (nice to have).
- Strong computer skills, including business applications (MS Office Suite, etc.), online engagement tools (Salesforce, ZoomInfo, etc.), and business use of social media.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong understanding of business trends with the ability to analyze and act on relevant trends.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
- Self-directed and capable of prioritizing opportunities and performing multiple tasks.
- Ability to adapt to and meet demanding timelines.
Responsibilities
- Oversee BD team activities to drive new and additional business into the pipeline, aligning with specific sales team processes.
- Inspire the team to excel and meet or exceed goals.
- Ensure team members actively prospect and leverage potential new business opportunities within specified new and existing customers/accounts, as directed by management and sales teams.
- Collaborate with sales teams and sales management to identify and prioritize target accounts, developing a prospecting plan including marketing initiatives for each.
- Work with sales teams to establish and execute comprehensive sales plans for specific target accounts, ensuring appropriate strategies and solutions are proposed to customers.
- Monitor the status of leads and opportunities to maintain a pipeline of opportunities. Plan and coordinate all customer presales activities.
- Report and retrieve all sales-related activities in CRM and other sales tools. Prepare sales activity reports for sales management as required.
- Oversee specific solution sales opportunities managed by the BD team from pipeline to closed business, as required by sales management.
