Requirements
- Significant knowledge of Venture Capital/Private Equity funds and the broader industry
- Strong familiarity with how law firms support VC and PE funds
- Relevant network of contacts within the community, specifically encompassing law firms
- Strong communication, presentation, and networking skills, with experience leading meetings with key leaders and decision makers
- Deep understanding of SaaS business models
- Relevant Business Development/Partnerships or other industry experience
Responsibilities
- Create champions for Carta’s fund administration products (fund formation, SPV formation, valuations, KYC/AML, Tactyc, among others) for private equity funds within the investment management ecosystem by partnering with, developing scalable strategies for, and engaging with law firm fund formation practices
- Generate referrals to private equity fund prospects from law firm fund formation partners by meeting with a certain number of law firm contacts monthly
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Delivery, Engineering, Implementations, Support, and Marketing to collect feedback from law partners, relay internally, and drive cross-functional conversations and roadmap for a strategy on deepening our mutual client penetration with preferred law firms
- Develop and execute strategies to convert law firms where Carta does not have deep relationships into preferred partners
- Coordinate and work alongside our Sales team to activate mutual books of business with law firms
- Lead discovery on additional paths for Carta to add value to our law firm partners to drive new business to Carta
- Drive non-linear referral motions with law firm partners to reliably drive a 50%+ increase in referrals from law firm partners
- Create awareness of Carta’s fund and investor tools for venture capital and private equity funds
- Represent Carta in the field, meeting with current and prospective partners and attending industry events on Carta’s behalf (up to 25% travel)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience practicing as a fund formation / investment fund attorney, paralegal, or compliance provider
- Prior experience supporting back office functions at a venture capital or private equity fund
- Prior experience managing relationships with high-profile ecosystem partners, specifically law firm partners, but including audit firms, investment funds, consultants, or other technology companies
- Understanding of fund formation, regulations that apply to funds, fund administration, audits, or valuation services.
