Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics, Nursing Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Care, Biological Sciences, or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience with clinical database management, demonstrating reliability and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills, to include time management.
- Demonstrated level of integrity and trust, capable of maintaining confidential information.
- Evidence of ability to perform database management for chart reviews, retrospective studies, and other research or department-generated data.
- Experience with the FreezerWorks sample management software, or equivalent.
- CITI training.
- U.S. Citizen.
- Must pass NACI background check.
- Must be willing to work in a BSL 3/4 laboratory.
- Must be eligible to enroll in the BPRP and CS-PRP programs.
Responsibilities
- Safely work in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratories.
- Support and perform experimentation in the execution of scientific studies, performance of assays, collection/data analysis, maintain documentation, and maintain laboratory and laboratory equipment at BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 as necessary.
- Perform basic microbiological, molecular, and immunological techniques supporting bacterial and viral work.
- Assist suite supervisor and perform suite supervisor duties for laboratories used by the Division, requiring detailed knowledge of instruments, chemicals, and biological work conducted in these laboratories, ordering supplies necessary for department projects, performing preventative maintenance and completing safety testing, revision of suite-specific manuals, conducting suite orientation, and coordination of personnel working in these laboratories.
- Routinely perform microbiological, diagnostic, and analytic procedures associated with the production, maintenance, and distribution of accredited bacterial reference materials and reagents IAW existing Quality Management System (QMS), depending on external customer demand.
- Document laboratory activities and outcomes pertaining to the production, maintenance, and distribution of accredited reference materials and reagents.
- Maintain the laboratory facility and equipment; ensure the safety and cleanliness of work areas and equipment. Perform monthly facility and equipment maintenance.
- Perform advanced microbiological, molecular, and immunological techniques.
- Independently perform culture identification and characterization to support the reference material collection using current microbiological, molecular, and immunodiagnostic assays, to include sequencing on Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, and equivalent platforms. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and data interpretation as required.
- Prepare and present oral, written, and peer-reviewed works on laboratory research and results.
- Proactively draft, review, and improve upon standard operating procedures associated with the production, maintenance, and distribution of accredited bacterial reference materials.
- Design, implement, and interpret microbiological, molecular, and immunological experiments associated with basic research and development activities.
- Prepare and provide a BRMR Lab Report outlining progress on all tasks each month.
- Train and competency assess Division Personnel on key laboratory practices, procedures, and techniques.
