Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in wind turbine blade repair or composite repair is required
- Strong background in use of suspended platforms and team supervision
- Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record is required
- Pre-access drug and alcohol testing required
- Pre-employment MVO and Criminal background checks will be required
- Ability and willingness to travel to job sites as needed
- Expertise in composite materials, resin systems, and laminating
- Proficiency in using tools and power equipment required for blade repairs
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections of wind turbine blades visually
- Execute and oversee advanced blade repair techniques, including structural repairs, tip replacements, bonding, and lightning protection system restoration
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturers and company standards
- Diagnose complex damage and provide feedback to engineering teams
- Serve as a lead technician, mentoring and training junior blade repair personnel
- Ensure quality control standards are met in all repair work through inspections and testing
- Manage on-site logistics, including tool and material inventory, ensuring readiness for scheduled repairs
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and maintenance teams to resolve technical challenges
- Document all activities in compliance with company and customer requirements, delivering detailed repair reports
- Conduct and document site-specific risk assessments, including Job Site Analysis (JSA)
- Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols, including proper PPE use and fall protection measures
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, equipment use, and certifications to comply with regulatory and company requirements
- Proven leadership skills in managing teams in a field environment
- Ability to train and mentor lower-level technicians effectively
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to plan and prioritize work schedules
- Provide technical expertise to resolve challenges during inspections or repairs
- Ensure project completion within timelines while maintaining high-quality standards
- Create detailed reports on inspection findings, repair work completed, and any follow-up recommendations
- Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and other stakeholders
- Maintain logs of all rope access equipment inspections and repairs
Preferred Qualifications
- Global Wind Organization – Basic Safety Training NPFA 70 (GWO BST / NPFA 70) is preferred
- Mid-level experience with rope access techniques and working in outdoor conditions is preferred but is not required
