Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Statistics or Biostatistics or very closely related field, with major coursework in statistics.
  • Thorough knowledge and ability to use at least two common statistical software packages such as SAS, Stata, R, and SPSS.
  • Ability to perform descriptive data analysis; to perform statistical modeling for univariate, clustered, longitudinal or time-to-event data; and to execute specialized analyses, perhaps under the direction of a PhD statistician.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills, both oral and written.
  • Interest in learning about diverse areas of biomedical, clinical, and population health sciences.
  • Professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Co-development of a new statistical consulting service including the shaping of workflows, service models, and best practices; developing tools and resources such as intake forms and documentation; participating in consultations on study design, data analysis, and interpretation, analysis of preliminary results and study design for grant proposals; and contributing to the ongoing evaluation and refinement of the service based on faculty feedback and performance metrics.
  • In consultation with faculty or senior staff, analyze and interpret data including selection and application of statistical methods. Prepare and present reports of findings including graphical displays. Educate collaborators on statistical methods.
  • Collaborate on the development of reports or manuscripts for peer-review, including but not limited to scholarly journals. Additional duties may include review of statistical components of protocols for scientific or IRB review and/or statistical analysis plans.
  • As requested and appropriate, may conduct specialized research projects, with latitude for creativity in design and implementation of such projects commensurate with experience. Determine project requirements and desired results and procedures to attain such results. Report results in in-house reports or publications, and/or journal articles as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Practical understanding of data privacy practices and laws to ensure privacy, confidentiality, security, and of IRB/Institutional approval processes.
  • Familiarity with GitHub for using existing and documenting new code development.
  • Understanding of rigor and reproducibility and its implementation in results.
  • A PhD in a field related to biomedical, clinical or population research can be useful and desirable.
