Requirements
- Experience identifying adult salmonids
- Operating jet or propeller driven boats
- Conducting salmon and steelhead stream surveys in remote areas
- Fish hatchery experience
- Communicating with members of the public
- Keeping neat and precise field data
- Possess or in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences
Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of a 4-person crew for the lower Rogue River/Huntley Park Seining Project
- Drive and trailer a large seining boat
- Set and pull in a 300 foot beach seine
- Wear waders and walk over gravel bars
- Handle fish that may weigh up to 50 pounds
- Collect and record species, sex, fish length, and scale samples from captured fish
- Conduct rotary smolt trap operation and data analysis
- Perform juvenile salmonid snorkel surveys
- Work with local ODFW STEP and state hatchery
- Conduct estuary seining
- Perform fish presence/absence surveys
