Requirements
- Skills and experience in backpack electrofishing
- Identifying juvenile fish species (especially salmonids)
- Fish or wildlife field work
- Collecting and accurately recording field data
- Hiking and camping
- Basic computer skills
- Possess or are in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences
Responsibilities
- Assist with a novel management project using hatchery-reared YY-male Brook Trout
- Capture (backpack electrofishing) and euthanize (kill by means of spinal dislocation) nonnative Brook Trout in the South Fork Sprague River
- Follow established protocols
- Collect data
- Collect tissue samples to estimate the abundance and ancestry of Brook Trout in the South Fork Sprague River
