Requirements

• Proven underwriting experience and a successful record of selling products to clients.
• Deep technical expertise.
• Proven people management skills and a record of developing more junior colleagues.
• The ability to analyze financial statements.
• Strong communication, networking and relationship building skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a group of Senior and Associate Underwriters, including designing and monitoring work, development of underwriting and/or marketing skills, and ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines.
• Manage colleagues and oversee a range of programs and processes, in addition to handling complex underwriting.
• Balance the needs of multiple stakeholders and make sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, judgement and a risk mind-set.
• Build effective relationships with brokers and deliver a high standard of customer service as an example for the team to follow.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, inclusivity and learning, while mentoring and developing colleagues through effective leadership, role modelling and training programs.
• Facilitate personal growth and career development in support of succession planning.
• Play a key role in new business development, including attending broker events, and building new relationships across the market.
