Requirements

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD) or equivalent is required
  • Active State license in good standing, DEA license and other state credentials as required
  • 0 – 2 years’ experience in general medicine and surgery
  • Multi-task with a high degree of integrity and accountability
  • Outstanding listening and problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable collaborating with other veterinary professionals in a team-oriented environment
  • Is passionate about helping people and pets with empathy and excellent customer service focus
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well in a face paced, self-starter environment

Responsibilities

  • Empower team to deliver an unparalleled client experience
  • Develop a rapport with clients and resolve their needs and wishes
  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures in a way that will deliver quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort
  • Has mastered medical skills and perform basic surgery
  • Explain physical examination findings and communicate a diagnosis of the pet’s condition; generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the client
  • Educate clients on preventative health care, including vaccines and appropriate nutritional products
  • Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all logs are kept up to date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient
  • Staying current with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine, attend continuing education meetings
  • Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care
  • Positively represents the clinic in the professional community and to the public
  • Support Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants with escalations as needed
  • Participation in self-development courses and Chewy Vet Care required compliance training
  • Perform related duties and assignments by management
  • Oversee operating, safety, and compliance procedures as required by applicable law and Chewy Vet Care processes and policies
  • Position may require some travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of supervised experience with veterinary radiation machines preferred
