Requirements

  • Minimum 2-5 years of Underwriting/Broking Experience in the Commercial Insurance. A focus towards Construction and Energy is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of Property and Casualty lines of coverage.
  • Independent operator with the ability to be an open-minded team player with a willingness to actively listen to comprehend unique circumstances that require practical and unique solutions to complex issues.
  • Robust insured and broker interaction with the ability to effectively target current and prospective contacts to effectively promote offered products.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with advanced education and / or professional designations including but not limited to CIP, CPCU (not required)

Responsibilities

  • Assist the production underwriters with preliminary underwriting including but not limited to; Rating models, CAT assessment requests and risk analysis (new and renewal).
  • Preparing short and brief reports on risks for Underwriting and aiding the overall underwriting process for the production underwriters.
  • Manage submission inflow and Request for Information with Broker partners. Ensuring the risks are logged as per department policies and necessary underwriting information has been gathered to review the risk.
  • Gather key missing underwriting information from the broker/client further to initial review to expedite Underwriting processes and procedures.
  • Administer and manage quotation generation, binders, declinations, and relevant documentation for the E&C portfolio in Canada.
  • Discuss and negotiate amendments in risk placements with brokers in consultation with production underwriters.
  • Coordinate loss runs with Claims and provide loss runs to brokers if required.
  • Issue all new line, renewal and endorsement policy documents and deal with brokers as needed on documentation queries.
  • Actively cross-sell afforded products and services.
  • Responsible for Underwriting documentation maintenance for the unit.
  • Responsible for data management and analysis for the unit.
  • Supporting service standards in delivery of Energy and Construction products and services.
  • Working effectively other integral members of your team.
  • Actively work on innovative solutions for clients/broking partners to differentiate Everest Canada’s offering to the industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A person that demonstrates high integrity and embodies the cultural values of Everest.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with both internal teams and external brokers as you will work in a team environment, assisting underwriters and / or deal administrators as part of their overall responsibility.
  • Outstanding comprehension and work experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingual (English/ French) Skills are an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills.
