Requirements
- JD from accredited law school required
- Six or more years experience working as an attorney required
- Licensed to practice law in Alabama and a member in good standing of the Alabama State Bar required
Responsibilities
- General autonomy and authority to handle most legal matters
- Advises management on legal matters and ensures compliance to protect the company against legal liability
- Transactional work to support legal filings, reportings and documentation
- Litigation including pre-trial, trial and appeals
- Management and oversight of outside counsel when so engaged
- Act as a Compliance Champion for the organization
- Monitoring for changes in laws, rules, regulations, and policies
- Assist in compliance risk assessments and risk reporting
- Developing, providing, and documenting compliance training
- Compliance monitoring, surveillance, and auditing efforts, and assisting in investigations of suspected compliance violations
Preferred Qualifications
- Litigation experience preferred
