Requirements
- Knowledge and experience with power system modeling and simulation software for steady state load flow, voltage, short circuit, stability, and electromagnetic transients
- Understanding of electrical engineering concepts such as load flow, reliability, stability, short circuit, voltage regulation, transients, power factor, losses, etc.
- Technical understanding of equipment and applications used in the operation of the power delivery system, as well as power industry fundamentals, practices, and standards
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and engineering economics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present in a formal setting
- Ability to work effectively with various levels within the organization
- Ability to respond to data requests for regulatory bodies
- Demonstrated skill with MS Office applications as well as Internet-based tools and resources
- Ability to multi-task and shift among multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong customer focus
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Ability to achieve desired results by setting high standards for self and others, and accepts responsibility for outcomes
- Knowledge of the techniques for planning the expansion of distribution lines and distribution substation facilities
- Proficiency with productivity tools and programming environments such as MATLAB, Python VBA, etc.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist in development of distribution system models for the purpose assessing steady-state and transient performance under various scenarios
- Identify, plan and prioritize system additions and reinforcements needed to meet reliability, resiliency, voltage, power quality and capacity needs
- Evaluate operational issues and perform power systems analyses to develop near- and long-term distribution system adequacy assessments, evaluate thermal, voltage and PQ violations, and develop solutions and contingency response plans
- Support engineers who interface with other utilities, independent parties and the NH Public Utilities Commission to resolve interconnections requirements, achieve integrated design of the T&D System & resolve regulatory issues
- Participate in committees and forums to enhance competencies in electric power engineering theory and practice
- Partner with other departments (Distribution Engineering, Asset Management, Standards, Transmission/Substation engineering, etc.) to design and engineer solutions, and prepare economic analyses for complex projects; recommend the allocation of costs for facilities used jointly with other utilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- A B.S. in Electrical Engineering or experience in Electric Power Systems is preferred
- 0-3 years related experience required (advanced degree may count towards experience)
