Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience as a full stack software developer.
  • Experience with technology infrastructure engineering in both on-premise and cloud paradigms.
  • Strong track record delivering large-scale applications through Agile practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency employing analysis and design.
  • Experience and strong familiarity with functional programming.
  • Demonstrated understanding of API design principles and best practices.
  • Experience developing using DevOps methods and the software development lifecycle.

  • Demonstrated proficiency leading development and delivery of multiple projects that meet diverse research needs.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and overseeing the RIDE team, a group of diverse technical subject matter experts.
  • Building, leading, and sustaining a team of diverse technical talent responsible for architecture, engineering, deployment and maintenance of enterprise-grade technology infrastructure.
  • Leading the development of major research infrastructure projects used across the College of Medicine, seven biomedical colleges, university, and/or communities beyond the enterprise including multiple statewide efforts.
  • Serving as the interface to other teams within RIT as well as to areas in the College of Medicine, Wexner Medical Center, Ohio State University, and inter-university and state agency partners.
  • Coauthoring and coordinating the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to research technology infrastructure.
  • Coauthoring organizational technology strategy.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on modern development approaches and strategies.
  • Working closely with principal investigators, enterprise IT leadership and across functional teams to steward internal and external projects, implement and operationalize organizational goals, lead recruitment and department staffing of diverse technical subject matter experts, and provide strategic decision making with long-term effects across the university.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success developing detailed budget estimates and project artifacts such as project plans and work breakdown structures.
  • Experience developing using microservice architectures and cloud technologies.
  • Considerable experience working with customers, users, and other relevant stakeholders to gather and understand business and technical requirements and translate them into tangible products.
  • 12 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Experience as a product owner for technology products such as software.
  • Experience working in complex stakeholder configurations.
