Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in data engineering or quantitative research
- Undergraduate degree is required, and an advanced degree (Masters) is a plus within a technical field (Computer Science, Statistics)
- Working knowledge and experience with relational databases and Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase SQL or other scripting and programming languages e.g., R, Python, or C#
- Experience with corporate financial data, proxy voting, or corporate governance and sustainability topics a plus
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information and convey it in a clear and concise manner
Responsibilities
- Support voting and engagement operations and client reporting by designing and maintaining a sustainable code stack utilizing BLK applications and tools
- Develop expertise in third-party proxy vendor platforms, such as ISS Proxy Exchange and Glass Lewis View Point, and how they interface with Aladdin and other external applications and vendors
- Develop expertise in third party market data platforms to support company research
- Develop expertise in BlackRock’s Aladdin platform to leverage relevant data sets and applications to support BAIS voting and engagement activity
- Partner with other analytical functions across BlackRock Solutions, the Aladdin Product Group, and Risk and Quantitative Analysis to build, maintain and improve technological solutions
- Leverage expertise in automation to enhance voting controls and improve analyst efficiency
- Support ad-hoc requests as needed for clients, voting and engagement analysts, and Corporate Communications
- Ensure integrity of the BAIS data environment and oversee the quality control of BAIS proprietary datasets
