Requirements

  • J.D. degree or equivalent legal degree from an accredited law school and a member in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of relevant legal experience, with a strong preference for in-house experience at a SaaS company or other technology company and/or at a national law firm representing SaaS or technology companies.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and a track record of closing challenging deals
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations, and experience handling and dealing with data privacy-related issues and questions.
  • Eagerness to learn and ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of AI technologies, with a keen awareness of emerging legal issues in the AI and tech space.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal and business concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume and wide variety of complex commercial agreements, including SaaS agreements, data processing agreements, business associate agreements, MSAs, strategic partnerships, and vendor agreements.
  • Support contract lifecycle management processes and maintain and improve legal templates, playbooks, and best practices to streamline the contracting process and increase consistency.
  • Provide practical and strategic advice to sales, procurement, and other operational stakeholders to close deals effectively and compliantly.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, marketing, and sales teams to address legal considerations and mitigate risks in product development, customer contracts, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on data privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other applicable frameworks.
  • Monitor and advise on changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards that impact the business, ensuring the company adapts accordingly.
