Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in construction management or related fields are advantageous.
- Extensive experience in construction trades, with a strong understanding of construction methods and techniques.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
- Several years of hands-on experience in construction trades, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise tradespeople and as required workers on-site.
- Coordinate daily work activities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to project schedules.
- Collaborate with others to ensure seamless integration of various construction activities.
- Enforce quality standards and specifications, conducting regular inspections to ensure workmanship meets project requirements.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and guidelines, promoting a culture of safety among team members.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks, addressing potential hazards and promoting safe work practices.
- Manage and allocate resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, effectively to optimize productivity.
- Coordinate deliveries and schedules with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or excesses to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Maintain open and clear communication channels with tradespeople, subcontractors, project managers, and other stakeholders.
- Report progress, issues, and concerns to senior trades superintendents and project managers in a timely and accurate manner.
- Address conflicts and resolve issues among team members, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including work performed, materials used, and labor hours.
- Prepare regular reports on project progress, highlighting achievements and addressing challenges.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, such as as-built drawings and project closeout reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a supervisory or lead role within the construction industry is highly desirable.
