Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in construction management or related fields are advantageous.
  • Extensive experience in construction trades, with a strong understanding of construction methods and techniques.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
  • Several years of hands-on experience in construction trades, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise tradespeople and as required workers on-site.
  • Coordinate daily work activities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to project schedules.
  • Collaborate with others to ensure seamless integration of various construction activities.
  • Enforce quality standards and specifications, conducting regular inspections to ensure workmanship meets project requirements.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and guidelines, promoting a culture of safety among team members.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks, addressing potential hazards and promoting safe work practices.
  • Manage and allocate resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, effectively to optimize productivity.
  • Coordinate deliveries and schedules with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or excesses to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Maintain open and clear communication channels with tradespeople, subcontractors, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Report progress, issues, and concerns to senior trades superintendents and project managers in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Address conflicts and resolve issues among team members, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including work performed, materials used, and labor hours.
  • Prepare regular reports on project progress, highlighting achievements and addressing challenges.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, such as as-built drawings and project closeout reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or lead role within the construction industry is highly desirable.
