Requirements

  • Nine years of management experience; OR six years of management experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and execute ODE’s vision for educational equity, develop statewide policies, and represent the agency in high-profile equity and legislative forums.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a diverse team of professionals; build leadership capacity in equity, and implement inclusive hiring and workforce development practices.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of major statewide initiatives, including the Student Success Plans, Health in Education, and Multilingual Education, managing a complex budget portfolio exceeding $30 million.
  • Coordinate with internal divisions and external partners, including tribal nations and other state agencies, to ensure equity remains at the core of educational strategy and service delivery.

  • Deep understanding of educational equity and demonstrated commitment to addressing systemic and institutional inequities across diverse communities.
  • Skilled in cross-cultural, written, and verbal communication, with the ability to navigate sensitive topics and convey clear direction to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrates a nuanced understanding of governmental structures, policy processes, and organizational dynamics.
  • Skilled in using data and performance metrics to drive accountability, improve program outcomes, and inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Strong understanding of public fund management, with experience overseeing complex budgets aligned with strategic priorities and community needs.
