Requirements

  • Hold a PhD or a medical degree
  • Have formal research training and evidence of a research track record in an appropriate discipline
  • Provide evidence of scholarly excellence with the potential to obtain external research funding
  • Have a proven track record of research productivity
  • Have the potential to develop an internationally recognized independent research program with a demonstrated ability to obtain grants and external funding (e.g., CIHR, FRQS, CCSRI, CPAC), and the capacity to contribute to the building of successful research programs
  • Demonstrate a commitment to, and evidence of, high-quality teaching, inclusive pedagogy, and effective supervision
  • Be able to foster collaborative relationships through effective communication, interpersonal skills, and strategic team building
  • Fluency in English is essential; a working knowledge of French, or a commitment to acquiring it within a few years of appointment is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Become an active member of the St-Mary’s Research Centre
  • Collaborate with the St. Mary’s Family Medicine Group and other McGill University Family Medicine Groups (FMG-Us)
  • Supervise a diverse body of students
  • Develop a research program in family medicine and primary healthcare of the highest international standards
  • Contribute to formal teaching and disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and other knowledge translation and exchange activities
  • Develop and lead a robust research program that aligns with the McGill University Strategic Research Plan
  • Support the academic mission of the McGill University Department of Family Medicine and the St-Mary’s Research Centre by participating in committees, research seminars, journal clubs, and other scientific programming
  • Foster collaboration, mentor junior researchers, and advance initiatives that align with the strategic goals of both institutions
  • Be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., teaching, research, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees)
