Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree: Graduate from School of nursing (BS, or BSN). Registered Nurses employed in this role prior to November 1, 2024 are encouraged to pursue the BSN degree but obtaining the degree will not be a condition of employment
- Upon hire: Alaska Registered Nurse License
- Upon hire: National Provider BLS – American Heart Association
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process to manage clinical and operational activities within assigned shift
- Supports the director/manager in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating services of the unit
- Provides managerial presence for all shifts
- Manages clinical and non-clinical caregivers and provides input to the director/manager for evaluation purposes related to performance
- Implements and monitors compliance to policies, processes and clinical priorities
- Coaches, mentors and collaborates to deliver quality health care to patients
- Manages and coordinates the unit, directs and supervises functions and activities
- Interprets policies/procedures/protocols, standards, and regulations as appropriate
- Maintains clinical competence and certifications to assist the unit when required
- Participates in self-development and planned mentoring in collaboration with director/manager
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital
- Charge Nurse/Relief Charge Nurse experience
- Leadership experience
- Shared Governance experience
