Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) Spectroscopy
  • Extensive knowledge of IR (Infrared) Spectroscopy
  • Extensive knowledge of UV/Vis (Ultraviolet/Visible) Spectroscopy
  • Extensive knowledge of GC (Gas Chromatography)
  • Extensive knowledge of GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related field
  • Several years of experience in the use and maintenance of instrumentation

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of the Organic Chemistry Instrument Room
  • Maintenance of instrumentation used across the undergraduate chemistry program
  • Aid in the development of new experiments to utilize instrumentation
  • Writing proposals to obtain new instrumentation
  • Training and supervision of instrument room teaching assistants
  • Assisting students with usage of the instruments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of additional instrumentation techniques, including HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography), fluorimetry, polarimetry
