Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) Spectroscopy
- Extensive knowledge of IR (Infrared) Spectroscopy
- Extensive knowledge of UV/Vis (Ultraviolet/Visible) Spectroscopy
- Extensive knowledge of GC (Gas Chromatography)
- Extensive knowledge of GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry)
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related field
- Several years of experience in the use and maintenance of instrumentation
Responsibilities
- Supervision of the Organic Chemistry Instrument Room
- Maintenance of instrumentation used across the undergraduate chemistry program
- Aid in the development of new experiments to utilize instrumentation
- Writing proposals to obtain new instrumentation
- Training and supervision of instrument room teaching assistants
- Assisting students with usage of the instruments
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of additional instrumentation techniques, including HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography), fluorimetry, polarimetry
