Requirements
- Registered Pharmacist in the State of Ohio
- B.S. in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) required
- 0-3 years of pharmacy management experience required
Responsibilities
- Coordinates pharmaceutical drug shortage management processes including surveillance, inventory assessment and shortage mitigation strategies.
- Leads weekly Departmental drug shortage meetings and coordinates ad hoc meetings addressing acute shortages.
- Coordinates implementation of drug shortage mitigation strategies with information technology, clinical and operational leaders.
- Initiates Departmental communications regarding drug shortage risk mitigation and maintains Departmental Drug Shortage database.
- Maintains, and establishes, where necessary, electronic pharmacy systems for purchasing, receiving and inventory control of pharmaceuticals.
- Coordinates the development and implementation of purchasing specific policies and procedures.
- Establishes relationships and maintains liaison with GPOs (Vizient, VitalSource) and individual suppliers.
- Monitors established market share agreements and committed program agreements.
- Coordinates the assessment of sourcing opportunities through OSU’s Vizient Pharmacy Aggregation Group, The Strategic Sourcing Solution (TS3). Leads the implementation of TS3 initiatives across all OSU entities.
- Monitors purchasing compliance of all GPO segments; implements corrective actions as necessary to ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Assesses various GPO drug utilization benchmarking tools to identify operational and clinical improvement opportunities.
- Interfaces with external purchasing analytics platforms to identify and implement NDC conversion opportunities.
- Coordinates all aspects of pharmacy purchasing across ambulatory clinics. Must work in cooperation with the site pharmacy leaders, buyers, technicians and support staff.
- Maintains a working knowledge of the 340B Drug Pricing Program. Ensures all purchasing and inventory management procedures comply with 340B Program requirements.
- Ensures clinic purchasing operations align with Ohio Board of Pharmacy, DEA and GPO Own Use requirements.
- Provides direct oversight of staff supporting procurement including Sourcing Managers and Buyers.
- Responsible for performance evaluation and establishment of individual goals.
- Provides ongoing training and education regarding pharmaceutical supply chain topics to internal and external stakeholders.
- Acts as a preceptor to pharmacy students, residents, and others in training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced administrative degree (M.S., MHA, MPH, MBA) preferred
- Post-graduate residency training and a track record in scholarship and teaching preferred
