Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising students or staff.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and event planning skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison for the Tarleton Parents Association (TPA), overseeing membership, communications, programming, and scholarship processes.
  • Collaborate with Family Weekend, Family Day at Tarleton Fort Worth, and other outreach events for parents and families.
  • Manage CampusESP, ensuring timely and accurate communications to families and alignment with institutional goals.
  • Foster collaboration with campus partners to create inclusive and supportive family initiatives.
  • Provide direct oversight and advising for the Tarleton Activities Board (TAB), guiding students in the development, planning, and execution of events.
  • Develop and implement educational training for TAB members and student leaders focused on leadership, planning, risk management, and event assessment.
  • Collaborate with departments to enhance student engagement through co-curricular experiences tied to institutional values.
  • Supervise a Graduate Assistant and student staff, including scheduling, training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, creativity, and accountability among student staff.
  • Provide opportunities for student staff to develop transferable skills and leadership abilities.
  • Build strong working relationships across the Division of Student Success and Engagement and other university areas to support holistic student and family experiences.
  • Lead assessment and reporting efforts for family and student engagement programs, using data to inform practice.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and divisional initiatives related to student retention, satisfaction, and success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in higher education or related field (Higher Education, Student Affairs, Communications).
  • Experience with CampusESP, Anthology Engage (Campus Labs), or event software.
  • 2–3 years of experience in student activities, family engagement, or higher education programming.
  • Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in family relations.
