Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a newsroom environment, preferably in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of news gathering and newsroom operations.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency in using newsroom computer systems and software.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Responsibilities
- Monitor news wires, social media, scanners, and other sources for breaking news and developing stories.
- Communicate with reporters, photographers, and other resources to cover stories effectively and efficiently.
- Collaborate with producers and the news team to develop story ideas and plan coverage.
- Serve as the central point of contact for all newsroom operations, ensuring clear and timely communication between reporters, producers, and other staff.
- Maintain strong relationships with community contacts, public information officers, and other news sources.
- Coordinate the logistics of news coverage, including scheduling and deploying field crews.
- Ensure that all necessary equipment and resources are available and functioning for news coverage.
