Requirements

  • A degree/diploma in Manufacturing, Operations Management or a related field (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical preferred)
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience leading in a complex manufacturing environment with a minimum of 3 to 5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity
  • Experience in high-mix, low volume manufacturing and or precision assembly (optics, electronics or defense industry is an asset)
  • Strong understanding and application of Operational Excellence (CORE) and process improvement methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience advancing EHS practices and procedures
  • Ability to plan and solve complex component supply and assembly problems
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to influence and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve objectives
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset, capable of interpreting complex data sets and making informed decisions
  • Effective verbal and written communication and networking skills with the ability to act as both a strategic and tactical leader
  • Management Skills: Able to hire, plan, listen, organize, set department objectives, interpret, provide work direction, coach, counsel, train and conduct performance reviews. Ability to influence others indirectly, team members, peers and support resources. A leader by behavior and action. Strong business acumen with the ability to see larger business objective and translate into functional strategies and tactics

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity and cost targets are achieved
  • Develop recovery plans and implement corrective actions when targets are not achieved
  • Instill a safety culture that is focused on commitment, prevention, compliance, and sustainability
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational excellence, enhancing quality and reducing operational costs
  • Review and coordinate the basis of estimates for new business opportunities, ensuring accurate cost analysis and competitiveness
  • Analyze growth targets and implement actions to ensure adequate capacity is available
  • Interface with Program Management, Quality, Logistics, Finance, Supply Chain, Facilities, Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering to support program execution
  • Maintain and execute strategic workforce plans to support employee development and cross training
  • Prepare departmental budgets (expense and capital), and meet or exceed financial expectations
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills by effectively guiding teams, adapting to change, and promoting a collaborative work environment
  • Mentor manufacturing teams, providing guidance and fostering a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork, openness and sharing information to foster unity
  • Monitor production performance and provide regular updates to senior management, demonstrating sound judgment and understanding the impact of team actions on business drivers and adapting to industry changes
