Animal Care Technician I

Requirements

• Ability to collect, document, and manage pertinent data in compliance with appropriate SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory agency guidelines
• Basic knowledge of animal behavior and restraint techniques
• Ability to read and understand SOPs, policies, and regulatory requirements

Responsibilities

• Maintains, cleans and disinfects animal cages, animal rooms, hallways and non-animal rooms as well as feeders, water bottles, and other supplies as needed
• Removes waste and maintains a safe work environment
• Learns to assist with inventory of animal feed, bedding, toys, other cage equipment, and supplies
• Reviews study plans as needed to perform job functions
• Provides animals with food, water, toys, housing, etc. according to company standards, and handles them humanely
• Works across groups and species when necessary
• Learns to collect and review data – manually or by appropriate computer software – and maintains well documented laboratory records according to GLPs

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
