Requirements
- Earned doctorate in an agricultural discipline, or related discipline. The successful candidate must have completed all degree requirements by the appointment date.
- Record of professional leadership and success in agribusiness or the food industry that would qualify for the rank of professor.
- Expertise in one or more of the following fields: entrepreneurship, product innovation, product development, new ventures, research to commercialization, research management, supply chain management, and sustainable innovation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Director of E&I in the College of Agricultural Sciences.
- Support the College’s leadership team (deans and department heads) in engagement with agribusinesses.
- Provide support and advice to new and emerging College industry engagement and research translation initiatives such as the FAO World Food Forum Youth Food Lab at Penn State.
- Guide College faculty through the process of patenting a new technology leading to licensing by an industry sponsor or entrepreneurial start-up.
- Engage in teaching based on the candidate’s qualifications, primarily in the undergraduate Agribusiness Management program.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in areas of personal expertise, including professional development for future employment in industry.
- Engage in research, if appropriate based on the candidate’s qualifications, in collaboration with other faculty and students.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on management and strategic issues to the Department and College, and provide appropriate academic service to the Department, College, and University.
