Requirements

  • Must have completed Navy Aviation Electronics Technician, AT, “A” School
  • Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory
  • Must be physically able to perform all assigned duties
  • Must have a valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver license (if North Carolina resident)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks
  • Secret Clearance Required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization

Responsibilities

  • Makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade technicians
  • Assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems
  • Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures and functional components using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment
  • Reads and interprets manufacturers’ and airline’s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications
  • Performs progressive, phase, periodic, and other hourly, conditional or calendar inspections
  • Examines reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks
  • Inspects jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments
  • Tests engine operation using testing equipment to locate source of malfunction
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories
  • Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
  • Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft
  • Enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years F/A-18 A-G O-level aircraft system maintenance experience
  • Should be a self-motivator and work with minimum supervision
  • Ramp Stamp (restricted/unrestricted)
  • A/S32A-45 tow tractor
  • AM32A-108 or A/M24M-6 power cart
  • Release and Control TM / TL
