Requirements
- Must have completed Navy Aviation Electronics Technician, AT, “A” School
- Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory
- Must be physically able to perform all assigned duties
- Must have a valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver license (if North Carolina resident)
- Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks
- Secret Clearance Required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
Responsibilities
- Makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade technicians
- Assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems
- Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures and functional components using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment
- Reads and interprets manufacturers’ and airline’s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications
- Performs progressive, phase, periodic, and other hourly, conditional or calendar inspections
- Examines reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks
- Inspects jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments
- Tests engine operation using testing equipment to locate source of malfunction
- Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories
- Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
- Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft
- Enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years F/A-18 A-G O-level aircraft system maintenance experience
- Should be a self-motivator and work with minimum supervision
- Ramp Stamp (restricted/unrestricted)
- A/S32A-45 tow tractor
- AM32A-108 or A/M24M-6 power cart
- Release and Control TM / TL
