Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar major) is required
  • Approximately 5+ years of EEE Parts Engineering experience in the Aerospace industry or a similar, highly regulated field (Military Defense, Medical, etc.)
  • General knowledge of Military Performance Specifications and/or component level requirements (e.g., MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-750, MIL-PRF-123, MIL-PRF-19500, MIL-PRF-38534, MIL-PRF-38535, MIL-PRF-55342, MIL-PRF-55365, EEE-INST-002, PEM-INST-001, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work pro-actively with remote team members, over IM, Email, Phone, and other virtual means of communication
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage one or more program assignments simultaneously
  • Prior experience conducting EEE pre-cap or final source inspections, or familiarity with part construction analyses techniques and assessments
  • Ability to apply engineering judgement to evaluate non-conforming EEE Parts for their suitability, reliability, and application against Mission risk-profiles.

Responsibilities

  • Selecting electrical, electronic and electromechanical (EEE) components based on space program requirements and maintaining Bills of Material (BOM)
  • Generating Non-Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPAR) and supporting approval process with customers
  • Developing component qualification and up-screening requirements (including COTS components for use in space applications)
  • Generating component qualification and screening reports
  • Generating specifications for new custom components
  • Performing pre-cap source inspections at supplier facilities
  • Reviewing & dispositioning component test data & destructive physical analysis results
  • Supporting component level failure analyses and supplier corrective action activities
  • Communicating clearly & effectively with management, suppliers & internal/external customers
  • Maintaining an in-depth understanding of manufacturer’s technologies and process capabilities for various part types
  • Supporting project design reviews internally and with customers
  • Creating and maintaining part numbers, datasheets, and processing change requests in an ERP system
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time
  • Ability and willingness to act as the company GIDEP representative and assess and document published alerts for impact / disposition to piece parts and built and delivered hardware.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with ECSS, NASA, or other industry standards outside of Military specifications
  • Experience with electronics manufacturing
  • Experience in a fast-paced, iterative design environment
  • Experience with EEE parts testing (e.g., screening, qualification, DPA, re-life, etc.), failure analysis, and/or non-conformance resolution (such as 5Whys, 8D, Cause Mapping, or equivalent RCCA investigation methods) for both passive and/or active devices is highly preferred
  • Experience generating and/or operating to strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) or work instructions
  • Experience with ERP Systems or other equivalent database management platforms (e.g., SAP, EPDM, Oracle, IFS, etc.)
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, supervisory, or management experience is a plus
  • Previous experience with Connectors and/or Cabling assemblies for space and vacuum applications
