Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Political Science, Business, Non-profit Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, oil and gas general field or carbon management knowledge is a plus
  • Strong communication, interpersonal savvy and listening skills
  • Must have excellent presentation skills; and be able to present to a large audience
  • Ability to work with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead on special projects as assigned, including but not limited to, management and execution of Community Engagement Plans, Community Benefits Plans (CBP), Community Benefits Outcomes and Objectives, etc.
  • Build, manage, and maintain strategic external partnerships to support OXY’s operations
  • Support development of and communicate OXY’s Community Engagement Plan and Strategy
  • Serve as lead author in the development of Community Engagement Plans, Community Benefits Plans (CBP), Community Benefits Outcomes and Objectives, as assigned.
  • Develop and manage internal and external initiatives to reduce operational risk, and enhance our social license.
  • Attend and represent OXY in meetings with key external stakeholders
  • Present to variety of audiences on behalf of OXY
  • Work with a wide variety of people and personalities, diffusing situations and accomplishing complex negotiations.
  • Develop innovative concepts to enhance the external affairs programs to differentiate Oxy among competitors and stakeholders
  • Unify corporate efforts domestically and create a shared passion among leadership and employees for external affairs, including employee engagement in community projects and advocacy for the company’s role in the community
  • Establish metrics, measuring both impact and value on strategic partnerships, involvement, and programs, inclusive of conducting impact and return assessments/analysis and reporting for the program; recommend ways the company can react to opportunities identified through that evaluation process by measuring the value of investment and assess how the strategy affects business objectives
  • Identify new strategic partnerships, leverage existing partners, focus areas, assets and programs that support the company’s business objectives
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure outstanding implementation of the program and look for ways to continue to increase impact and advocacy while creating sustainable solutions to community issues
  • Identify and write event and engagement stories, in collaboration with the Marketing team, for internal distribution on the company intranet site and external social media sites
  • Maintain an understanding of the company’s business operations, goals and objectives in order to set priorities for partnerships
