Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required with 10 years of relevant environmental experience in a process industry (e.g. refining, midstream, petrochemical or other heavy industrial); or Bachelor’s degree in a HES related field with 5 years relevant environmental experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2 years relevant environmental experience
  • Ability to monitor compliance with environmental regulations
  • Ability to develop business acumen and technical knowledge
  • High School Diploma or GED required with 15 years of relevant environmental experience in a process industry (e.g. refining, midstream, petrochemical or other heavy industrial); or Bachelor’s degree in a HES related field, Engineering degree, or advanced degree with 7 years relevant environmental experience
  • Detailed knowledge on current and proposed environmental rules and regulations with the ability to communicate impact plans to local leadership for budget development
  • Ability to review engineering designs and specifications to ensure compliance with appropriate environmental rules and regulations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of facilities and relationships with environmental rules and regulations with the ability to initiate steps that will avoid reoccurrence of environmental problems
  • High School Diploma or GED required with 15 years of relevant environmental experience in a process industry (e.g. refining, midstream, petrochemical or other heavy industrial); or Bachelor’s degree in a HES related field, Engineering degree, or advanced degree with 7 years relevant environmental experience

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Associates degree with 25 years of relevant environmental experience in a process industry (e.g. refining, midstream, petrochemical or other heavy industrial); or Bachelor’s degree in a HES related field, Engineering degree, or advanced degree with 20 years relevant environmental experience

  • Detailed knowledge on current and proposed environmental rules and regulations across multiple components with the ability to communicate impact plans to upper leadership for budget development
  • Ability to advocate on behalf of the Company with environmental regulations, regulatory agency actions, and international standards while also representing industry trade groups
  • Ability to serve as a technical expert to Federal Government Affairs in contact with elected officials

Responsibilities

  • Develops and interprets company environmental policies and guidelines, creating methods and procedures to ensure compliance. Advises managers and supervisors on company goals and requirements, providing guidance and technical assistance to establish and administer programs and procedures, including budget inputs. Monitors compliance and directs related reports and recommendations to appropriate personnel.
  • Designs and reviews engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment or systems, determining engineering specifications and recommending necessary equipment.
  • Identifies and investigates current and emerging environmental issues to determine causes and contributory circumstances. Initiates steps to prevent recurrences and provides recommendations to appropriate personnel and senior management.
  • Stays updated on environmental legislation, regulatory agency actions, and international standards, as well as related technological and administrative developments. Assists with legislative and regulatory impact assessments to ensure appropriate company responses to governmental proposals. Submits required reports and obtains necessary permits.
  • Develops environmental information, manuals, training materials, and programs. Informs employees of related policies and procedures and conducts appropriate training sessions.
  • Represents the company in trade associations, industry work groups, and regulatory agencies. Serves as a technical resource to Government Affairs in contact with elected officials.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of industry issues and key contacts, directs activities and budgets, and disseminates pertinent information.
  • Maintains professional expertise and proficiency in the discipline to meet company expectations and perform technical assignments.
  • Leads and manages compliance and permitting functions for Title V permits. Analyzes technical and regulatory issues related to permits.
  • Reviews and evaluates projects and processes for regulatory compliance and permitting requirements.
  • Prepares and submits permit applications and reports.
  • Communicates permitting and regulatory issues within the company, government agencies, and the public.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with EPA, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, California Air Resources Board (CARB), and CEQA regulations and permitting requirements.
