Requirements
- Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience
- OR
- Two years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Driver’s License Check – This position requires the operation of a state vehicle for the purpose of conducting official State business.
Responsibilities
- Manage the General Ledger Unit
- Serve as the technical expert for the Unit by providing leadership and coordination of the department’s accounting and fiscal operations
- Train agency fiscal staff and department personnel in financial matters throughout the state
- Review fiscal operations for G.A.A.P. and state and federal mandated procedural compliance
- Manage 10 accounting staff in the General Ledger Unit
- Coordinate the flow of transactions into the R*STARS accounting system
- Develop and design internal accounting systems, according to G.A.A.P.
- Act as a liaison with field personnel for unique project coding and customized expenditure reports
- Lead the compilation of the year-end data and disclosures submitted to DAS for the agency’s contribution to the CAFR.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of G.A.A.P.
- Ability to serve as the technical expert for R*STARS and BRIO
- Excellent computer skill using database and spreadsheet software
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to assure the accurate and timely reporting of agency transactions
- Ability to assign or reassign duties between staff as needed
- Ability to give directions to staff regarding changes in duties or goals
- Ability to lead the compilation of the year-end data and disclosures submitted to DAS for the agency’s contribution to the CAFR.
