Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of a wide range of learning strategies and study skills
  • Ability to teach learning and study skills necessary for academic success at the collegiate level
  • Awareness and sensitivity to the academic, athletic, and social pressures faced by student-athletes at the collegiate level

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements programs and services designed to meet the needs of academically at-risk student-athletes
  • Design educational plans for identified student-athletes with identified learning disabilities and/or learning needs
  • Collaborate with academic entities in addressing specific learning needs and identified interventions
  • Provide intensive, essential learning strategies for under prepared student-athletes in a highly competitive academic setting by providing proactive, early, sustained, individualized support to enhance student success
  • Utilize teaching skills and knowledge of student personal and cognitive development to design and implement a learning support system
  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress
  • Identifies student-athletes individual needs. Develops and delivers support programs and services
  • Develops and teaches decision making, time management, organizational, and study skills
  • Compile and maintain confidential records and other documentation
  • Serve as a liaison between the Academic Affairs for Athletics staff, faculty, ODAS, and coaches to enhance the academic success of student-athletes
  • Oversee individual student assessment programs including APTUS and psychoeducational evaluations
  • Train Academic Affairs for Athletics coordinators, tutors, and mentors in learning strategies for identified population

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field
  • Experience working with student-athletes at the NCAA DI level
