Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years academic advising or related experience for Academic Coordinator/Advisor 1
- Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of full-time academic advising experience for Academic Coordinator/Advisor 2
- A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of electronic student data systems utilized in Higher Education
- Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership, including the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office such as Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse team environment
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize job tasks effectively
- Experience conducting presentations
- Demonstrated experience in public speaking
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced-level professional advising to students in the Department of Psychology
- Provide guidance, advice, and support to faculty and staff in all matters regarding undergraduate student advising and program advising records
- Serve as primary contact for advising inquiries, student graduation, undergraduate advising policy and procedures
- Administer the undergraduate advising system for the program
- May supervise time-slip personnel
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of WSU student computer systems such as myWSU, WSU Imaging System, OBIEE and Outlook
- Demonstrated academic field specific knowledge
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Evidence of Skill in planning and performing multiple job tasks involving diverse groups of constituents
