Requirements

  • Coursing a higher education degree (Bachelors or Graduate Program) with interest in careers associated with Education, Museum Education, Arts and Culture.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have a strong interest in event planning/customer services
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Ability to follow instructions and also work independently
  • Creative and detail-oriented
  • Sign confidentiality agreement; as the ability to understand and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and discretion is required

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Director of Curriculum & Arts Integration and Manager of Art Integration to coordinate educational products and services like Lesson Plans, Art Making Activities, Tour Guides, Professional Development Agendas and Activities, Logistical support activities.
  • Assist with research, design, scheduling, promotion, and execution of educational products for Teachers.
  • Interns will learn, prepare, prototype, and present educational experiences for tours and art making workshops.
  • Assist with promotion and execution of Professional Development and the annual Evening for Educators event.
  • Gain a working knowledge of software and systems used by the museum with an emphasis on the Event Management System (EMS).
  • Develop relationships with museum educators & volunteers.
  • Interface with other departments such as curatorial and interpretation.
  • Position will shadow School Programs Museum Educators, offer input into projects, will be invited to meetings, and may be asked to assist other departments.
  • General administrative duties.
  • Educational design can include supporting research of art works, prototyping art making activities, writing lesson plans, and contributing to group projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous event experience a plus
  • Event database and design application experience a plus
