Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA and/or MBA a plus
- 15+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with 7+ years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), inventory accounting, and book-to-tax adjustments
- Experience managing external audits, financial statement preparation, tax compliance, and risk management
- Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite or equivalent) and financial reporting tools
- Experience working with Big 4 financial consultants and auditors on tax, audit, and compliance matters
- Strong leadership and team development skills, with the ability to mentor and build a best-in-class finance team
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to risk management and financial strategy
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting and financial operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry standards
- Develop and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and best practices to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risk
- Implement and oversee risk management strategies related to financial reporting, cash flow, tax compliance, and operational finance
- Work closely with the CFO and executive leadership team to provide financial insights that drive business decisions and long-term strategy
- Partner with external financial advisors, including Big 4 audit and tax consultants, to manage tax compliance, audits, and financial planning
- Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
- Prepare and review financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, and variance analysis to support internal and external reporting
- Manage all aspects of revenue recognition, ensuring proper alignment with GAAP standards and compliance with ASC 606 for eCommerce transactions
- Oversee Inventory, cost accounting and COGS reporting, ensuring accurate tracking, valuation, and reconciliations of inventory as well as margin analysis
- Ensure proper expense timing and classification for operational, marketing, compensation, and G&A costs
- Work with tax consultants to prepare and review tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and compliance with state and federal tax laws
- Lead cash flow forecasting and treasury management, ensuring sufficient liquidity and optimized working capital
- Manage payroll operations, ensuring accurate processing, compliance with labor laws, and timely tax filings
- Ensure full tax compliance, including sales tax, income tax, and state/local tax obligations
- Work with Big 4 audit and tax firms on annual audits, tax strategy, and compliance reviews
- Lead the preparation and submission of tax filings, including sales tax nexus compliance and quarterly estimated tax payments
- Manage state and local tax audits, providing necessary documentation and working with tax professionals to resolve inquiries
- Oversee intercompany accounting, ensuring compliance with tax regulations
- Prepare and maintain book-to-tax adjustments, ensuring appropriate treatment of temporary and permanent differences between financial reporting and tax filings
- Spearhead annual insurance renewal to achieve most comprehensive, risk mitigated and cost-effective policies
- Participate as a member of the Finance & Accounting Team, and model core values for other members of the team
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, ensuring strong collaboration, accountability, and professional growth
- Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and career development opportunities for direct reports
- Provide training and ongoing guidance on best practices in financial reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging technology and automation to enhance efficiency
- Lead Finance area in ERP implementation, ensuring robust data management and reporting accuracy
- Optimize and automate financial processes, improving efficiency in reporting and compliance
- Establish best practices for reconciliation, closing schedules, and audit readiness to enhance efficiency
- Lead the implementation of new accounting and reporting tools, integrating AI-driven financial analytics where applicable
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in DTC, eCommerce, retail, or consumer goods is a plus
