Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 8+ years of state and local tax compliance experience working within a complex, publicly traded tax department
  • In-depth knowledge of state and local tax laws, regulations, proven experience managing complex state and local tax issues and audits
  • ASC 740 experience
  • Compliance software experience (i.e. OneSource, Corptax)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a solid technology background.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the state and local income tax compliance process ensuring adherence to deadlines, accuracy, and conformity with state regulations to reduce the Company’s overall tax burden and risk.
  • Manage and oversee the preparation and review of state and local income tax returns, including the calculation of apportionment and state modifications.
  • Review and prepare quarterly and annual state and local income tax provision and disclosures in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Assist in driving process improvement opportunities in the tax function to enhance processes, efficiency, accuracy, and controls.
  • Monitor state nexus and filings to ensure compliance with state tax laws and regulations, identifying any potential areas of risk or exposure.
  • Research and interpret changes in state tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the company and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Manage state and local tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities, along with development and ownership of an internal tax controversy monitoring framework.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters of Tax and/or CPA license.
  • Experience within the data analytics and services industry.
  • Experience using Oracle NetSuite and OneStream.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply tax laws and regulations.
