Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and 8 years of industry equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including emails, preparing slide presentations, and presenting technical concepts to multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Works well in collaborative team atmospheres. Experience in driving challenging electromechanical architecture, managing trade-offs and design down-selection, and working within ID, weight, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (any modeling package), wide knowledge of basic engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in prototyping quick-turn, high fidelity mechanisms and concepts to enable architecture down-selects and data collection.
  • Working knowledge of FEA principles and how to leverage input for system convergence.
  • Experience collaborating with Asian manufacturing facilities, working through DFM challenges with external vendors, specifically in high-volume products.
  • GD&T knowledge, tolerance analyses (high-volume), experience releasing 2D drawings and FAI/CPK dimensional reports.
  • Creative problem solving, with experience in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and DOE creation.

  • Experience driving technical discussions with ID and/or cross-functional partners
  • Experience in designing for ergonomics and comfort
  • Experience with light-weighting designs
  • Proficiency in NX
