Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or equivalent experience
- 4-5 years financial analysis, budgeting, planning and general accounting experience required
- Advance proficiency in Microsoft excel and spreadsheet modeling
Responsibilities
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and as needed analysis of financial variances relative to prior period and budgeted results. Determine and document income and expense variances. Justify results ensuring proper treatment of accounting and SOX compliance. Communicate and present findings to management. Review other areas of responsibility including but not limited to other income, allocations, intercompany agreements, US-CAN cross charges.
- Facilitate with managers throughout the company the creation of a detailed income and expense budgets and reforecasts. Provide ongoing support to those departments on understanding their revenue and expenses and how they emerge in our financial results. Gain knowledge and understanding of current events within those areas in the company, and matriculate that information within financial group to ensure transparency of future revenue and expense trends and accurate earnings forecasts.
- Propose journal entries related to expense accruals, account reclasses, or expense allocations. Construct or review monthly account reconciliations. Assist with developing and maintaining company allocation models and methods.
- Develop and refine models and other metrics and KPIs to analyze trends, forecast results, and develop annual budget of various product earnings and KPIs. Assist with design and development of models in Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) tool. Assist area VP with adhoc projects, create and track project ROI analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Business or accounting degree
- 6-8 years financial analysis, budgeting, planning and general account experience
- Audit or review experience
- Experience in insurance products and other financial products.
- Experience with ERP and EPM systems/tools helpful.
