Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, the sciences or industrial design is preferred
  • 6 years of progressive experience within footwear product development
  • Experience with a PLM and or PDM (Product Data management) system is a plus
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Illustrator
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and be comfortable influencing others’ decisions to reach desired results
  • Results driven with optimal organizational skills
  • Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Proactively seek learning opportunities to build business and technical skills
  • Flexibility and open to organizational change
  • Proven project management experience required
  • The ability to travel to manufacturing locations, development centers and suppliers to ensure footwear product integrity is properly executed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely product commercialization for global product category
  • Ensure timely execution regarding last, bottoming, function, material, fit, pattern, construction and quality/ product standard adherence in production
  • Partner with senior engineers to ensure product is ready for manufacturing while maintaining appearance, fit, quality and performance as prescribed by Category Product Team
  • In collaboration with product design and development, partner with senior engineers to ensure the proper fit, function and manufacturability of the product line
  • Actively participate and problem solve with senior engineers and product development as product transitions from line close to sales samples and into commercialization
  • Buy readiness; manage development efforts to reach buy readiness on assigned projects by overseeing and meeting all calendar milestones necessary to achieve this goal
  • Managing engineering tear-down of product with country office/partner factory
  • Responsibility for any needed corrective action(s) in Commercialization Project Management
  • Maintain consistency of standardized pattern attributes meeting regional needs to make ‘Best Engineered Product.’
  • Assist as needed with planning and execution of Forward Engineering activities to meet related commercialization and ‘Buy-Ready’ timelines
  • Work proactively with senior engineers at seasonal kick-off
  • Actively participate in all product related milestones, from seasonal kick-off through commercialization
  • Review specifications, material, construction, fit, pattern and process at each stage providing input as needed
  • Engage with development and design teams to problem solve shoe making and footwear construction methods
  • Provide and keep a clear form of documentation and communication with internal and external colleagues
  • Proactively seek learning activities to build business and technical skills
  • Participate and work with senior engineers on seasonal last development
  • Leverage internal Footwear Performance Index (FPI) testing on Timberland and competitor product benchmark footwear, providing input to the Design/Product Management team to improve product, identifying key positive ‘feature/benefit’ differences or product areas that need enhancements
  • Participate in the validation of mold development conformance from initial drawings through confirmation of sample size, including Extreme Size bottom molds
  • Travel to manufacturing locations, development centers and suppliers to ensure footwear product integrity is properly executed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a PLM and or PDM (Product Data management) system is a plus.
